THOSE CCCP MEETINGS-- EXACTLY WHAT DO THEY DO AT THEM.... EXACTLY? At last year's holiday party at the Gatehouse, a veteran free lance art director was telling a friend and creative director from a Providence ad agency how impressed he was with a smart young computer graphics guy he'd just interviewed last week. A young student majoring in photography met a nationally recognized photographer based in Providence who offered her an internship when she graduates in June. An artist who specializes in outdoor installations got talking with a woman who works for the City's Art Commission about a project involving color selection for the newly renovated Point Street Bridge. A designer and his wife who were looking for a one-week tropical get-away in January met an illustrator who had just built a beach house in Cost Rica. A local landscape artist met a local ski lodge architect who was just completing a project in Vermont. A TV commercial producer explained to an aspiring young screen writer what it meant to have your screenplay "optioned." At the bar, a 26- year-old computer animator just starting his business here in Providence, described a new CD-ROM package to a fascinated 50 year old graphics designer. The head of a new web site design firm in town told an ad agency art director that they were offering free web sites to community arts organizations. |
